David T. Bauers 56, of Cheboygan passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Dave was born in Cheboygan on Jan. 12, 1947, the son of Louis and Mary (Douglas) Bauers. He attended Cheboygan Area School and graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1965. In February of 1966 Dave was inducted into the United States Marine Corps and served a two-year enlistment, being honorably discharged in 1968. He married Elda Wilkinson on Feb. 7, 1969. Dave was employed at Proctor and Gamble prior to his induction into the service, and returned to US employment following his discharge. He then owned and operated Dave's Sunoco for several years until going to work for the Cheboygan County Road Commission. Dave retired in 2002 for health reasons after 26 years of service. Dave loved to hunt and loved his cars.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie; his daughters, Teresa Marie Love, Patty (Randy) Frederick, Tina (Lavern) Alexander and Dana (Garrett) Sias; 10 beautiful grandchildren; sisters Joyce (Richard) Louisignau and Joanne (Doug) Drew; sisters-in-law Aleen Bauers and Marcia Bauers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jack and Richard.
The funeral Mass took place at Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at St. Mary's/St. Charles Church, with the Rev. Paul Megge officiating. Interment took place at Calvary Cemetery.
