Born March 29, 1922, in Farmington to Frederick Keeling and Oce Shuler Clayton, he married Betty Anne Lorch on Feb. 20, 1944, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Roger Robert (and Dana) of Peoria; and three brothers, Richard (and Joan) of St. Augustine, Fla., Gene (and Farlene) of Peoria and Jon (and Marlene) of Kewanee.
He was preceded in death by one son, Scott; and one brother.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as first lieutenant in the medical administration 94th Infantry.
He graduated from Bradley University and did extensive master's level work at the University of Illinois Institute of International Trade.
He joined LeTourneauWestinghouse, which became WABCO and then Dresser Industries, where he was directing manager of overseas licensees and vice president of WABCO Export-Import Bank.
He retired after serving 47 years and concluding 67 around-the-world trips for his company.
He was a charter member of the Rotary Club North, a member of Retired WABCO Employees Club, AARP, Creve Coeur Club, University Club and Retired Officers Club.
He was a member of First Federated Church in Peoria, where he served as a member of the board of trustees, on several committees and as head usher.
Private burial of ashes will be in Springdale Cemetery at a later date.
