W. R. Chamlee, 71, dies Wednesday in Local Hospital

Warren Rufus Chamlee, 71, of Calhoun died in the Gordon County Hospital Wednesday morning at 4:45 o’clock. Mr. Chamlee had been in declining health for some time and had been confined to the hospital for one week.

Mr. Chamlee was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda McDearis Chamlee. He is survived by three sons, Clifford Chamlee of Calhoun, Clyde Shamlee of Fitzgerald and George Chamlee of California and two daughters, Mrs. Julia Mae Chamlee and Mrs. Mary Bell Campbell of California, several grandchildren, five brothers, Carl, Luther, George, Walter, and Will Chamlee, three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Colston, Mrs. Lula Ward and Mrs. Florence Hall.

Funeral services were held at Oothcaloga Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Billy Cochran and the Rev. E. M. Garrett. Music was arranged by the pastor of the church, the Rev. E. F. Cobb. Burial was in the church cemetery.
