Cecilia Vitak Rut, daughter of Matej Vitak, and Kristina Laun Vitak was born November 22, 1888, at Trtice, Czechoslovakia. She passed away at the Fillmore County hospital at Geneva, Neb., March 3, 1963, at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
She came to America with her parents when about one and one-half years old, and lived with them near Milligan, Neb.
She was united in marriage to Frank V. Rut in St. Wenceslaus Catholic church at Milligan, November 25, 1907. They moved to a farm near Tobias, where they lived until the fall of 1948, when they retired and moved to Tobias.
To this union were born nine children. She is survived by her husband Frank; three sons, James, Francis, and Ervin; and five daughters, Emilie Hajek, Alice Schielke, Helen Suda, Agnes Nedza, and Marie Sukovoty; 24 grandhcildren, and seven great-grandchildren, also three daughters-in0law, and four sons-in-law. Her parents and an infant son and one son-in-law preceded her in death.
She was a loving wife and mother, always helping out where she could. She loved flowers and enjoyed raising them and taking them to church for the altar.
The last few years she had been in failing health. She was tenderly cared for by her husband and children until hospitalized.
