"HARRELL — E. Q. "Buddy" Apple, age 74, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005, at his home in Harrell, Ark. He was born Aug. 13, 1930, to parents Quant and Vivian Apple.
"Mr. Apple was committed to the well-being of his family, faith and community. He became a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Harrell in 1953 where he served as treasurer. He was the Junior High Boys Sunday School teacher at the church for more than 20 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner at the temple in Little Rock. He retired from Rock Island Railroad after 33 years of service. While working for Rock Island he gained respect from co-workers for taking only one day of leave in those 33 years. Mr. Apple served as treasurer for the City of Harrell for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in getting the city of Harrell incorporated and the planning and implementation of the municipal water and sewer system.
"Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janet Ross Apple of Harrell; one daughter, Lane Reynolds of Hampton; one granddaughter, Jana Reynolds of Harrell; one grandson, Lance Reynolds of Hampton; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Cody and Kayla Reynolds of Hampton; three brothers, Gordon Apple of Booneville, Ark., Ronnie Apple of Fort Smith, Ark., and Bruce Apple of Netarts, Ore.; two sisters, Laura Margaret Avants and Alice Moore both of Tulsa, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Ann Ross and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
