Catrina was born in 1807 in Trastena parish, Skaraborg, Sweden. Skaraborg was a county until 1998, when it was joined with other counties to form Vastra Gotalands county. Her parents were Anders Larsson and Catharina Larsdotter. Her ancestors were from Ballefors parish in Skaraborg. She met her future husband while working as a maid on the farm of Rimmestorp. Jonas Jacobsson was a farmhand on the same farm. After their marriage, they lived on the farm of Prastangen for 4 years. They moved to Korsbacken Torp at Prastgarden in 1835. Torp means small cottage or farm. Typically, the owner of an estate allowed the use of a small farm in exchange for a certain number of days labor a year. Jonas, Catrina and all their children lived on this small farm for the next 47 years. They were probably very poor. They had eight children while living in a small cottage on this farm. Catrina died on February 22, 1875.
