Holmes, Emma V., 101 of RD 1, Moundsville, W.Va. died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va. She was born July 6, 1901, on Blakes Ridge, Marshall County, W.Va. The daughter of the late George B. and Lula R. Roberts Games.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Moundsville, where she taught Sunday school for many years; a member of the United Methodist women; the Esther Circle; Win One Sunday School Class; Moundsville Garden Club and a life member of Women's Christian Temperence Union.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Herbert Holmes; a son H. Wayne Holmes; four brothers, Clarence, Lawrence and Charles Games; an infant brother and a sister, Carrie Cunningham.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Maxine Rine of Canton, Ohio, and Karen (Walter) Maas of Moundsville; eight grandchildren, Roger Rine, Debra Clark and Daniel Rine, all of Canton, Ohio, Katherine (Brian) Key of Circleville, Ohio, John Maas, Donald (Brenda) Holmes, Linda (Paul) Ostrander and Diane Holmes, all of Moundsville; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday,, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, and Friday from 11am until time of service at 1 pm at Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, with the Rev. Patricia Anderson officiating, Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Wheeling.
