Rosella Dorothy Volk, age 93, of Mankato, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Laurel's Peak Care Center in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at Landkamer - Johnson - Boman Funeral Home in Mankato, with a 4:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.Rosella was born on December 20, 1919, in Mankato. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Gina (Christensen) Wilson. Rosella attended school in Mankato. She was united in marriage to Frederick Volk on August 15, 1938, in Sisseton, S.D. Rosella was employed with Immanuel - St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato, where she participated in many church activities. She also was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagle's Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. Rosella enjoyed playing cards, bingo, casino trips, family get-togethers, and especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Rosella is survived by her six children, Roger (Marion) Volk of North Mankato, Jan Schwecke and her special friend, Wally Brede of Winthrop, Kay Nielsen of Mankato, Dennis (Sherry) Volk of Mankato, Mark (Cheryl) Volk of Courtland, and Paul (Cheryl) Volk of Spencer, OK; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick in 1976; seven brothers and three sisters.
