Amy May (Dale) Graves, age 43, of 1404 Center Street, Munising, died on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital following a courageous battle with breast cancer for nearly ten years. She was born in Munising on April 29, 1970 to Jim and Sandy (Crandall) Dale. Amy grew up in Wetmore and graduated from Munising High School in 1988 where she had participated in cross country, track and band. Amy attended Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan Universities. She began employment at Peoples State Bank in September of 1993 and was the Assistant Cashier at the time of her death. Amy was a team captain for PSB's Relay for Life team and she was an Advisory Board member and dedicated volunteer for the Eric Beverly Family Foundation.


Amy is survived by her husband Alan; son 2nd Lt. Ryan; father Jim; sister Carmen; mother-in-law Anne; nieces Peyton and Trisha; nephews Brady, Jordan, Connor, and Colton; brothers-in-law Rick and Paul; best friend Elaine; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.


Amy was preceded in death by her mother - Sandy Dale, grandparents Arthur & Katherine Dale and Lorance & Nora May (Avery) Crandall, father-in-law Rich "Hawkeye" Graves, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.


Visiting time with family and friends was on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. Amy's memorial service was held at Eden Lutheran Church on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Elisabeth Zant officiating. A fellowship gathering took place at the church following her memorial service. Interment was at the Munising Township Cemetery in Wetmore.

The life of cancer warrior Amy Dale Graves was celebrated October 26, 2013, in Munising at the Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation's Annual Celebration of Life. The event--established by Munising native Danielle Tiernan Beverly and her husband, former NFL player Eric Beverly, who now live in Georgia--serves to raise breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for families in Alger County battling cancer.
