Nicholas Hench, of Ickesburg, Perry County, died at his residence in that place yesterday morning, in his 81st year. Mr. Hench was one of the oldest settlers of Perry County, the town of Ickesburg being named after his mother's father and was the brother of the late George Hench, a prominent citizen of Carlisle. Another brother is at present living in Ohio. The cause of his death was diabetes, his old age rendering him too weak to resist the disease. The deceased was a prominent member of the Lutheran church and though he was no politician in the common meaning of the term, he held several important county offices during his lifetime.

He was the father of a large family of children, among them whom are Nicholas and Harry Hench, of the firm of Hench & Stewart and Samuel Hench, the Market Street merchant, and lived to see his great grandchildren. The funeral will take place from his late residence.
