Elizabeth M. (Connolly) Girouard, 72, 380 Welch Road, Winchendon died peacefully, Thursday, May 9, 2013 in her residence, surrounded by family, following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, MA on February 12, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Crowley) Connolly.
Elizabeth graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1959.
Prior to retiring in 2002, she was an intake worker for the Massachusetts Fuel Assistance Program for 20 years.
Elizabeth was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner. She was also a member of the Airstream Club of New England.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, word games and playing scrabble. She loved spending time outdoors - gardening, camping and bird watching. Elizabeth was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
Elizabeth leaves her husband of 50 years, Eugene A. Girouard of Winchendon; two sons, Steven D. Girouard and his wife Cynthia of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Matthew E. Girouard of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Jean M. Miller of Raleigh, NC and Colleen E. Girouard and her husband Cy League of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Michael J. Connolly and his wife Dianne of Hancock, NH; nine grandchildren, Zachary Gilbert, Nate Miller, Kate Girouard, Alex Miller, Peter Girouard, Haley Girouard, Benjamin Girouard, Isabella Girouard and Ellie League; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Michael L. Girouard who died in 2009.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 14th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be Monday, May 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
