S/o Robert Webb and Katherine Greer. Enlisted 17 March 1862 at Gogginsville, Va. as a Private, Co. B, 24th Virginia Infantry which was organized in Franklin Co. known as the "Franklin County Rifles", Lynchburg, Va., 23 May 1861.
Captured at the battle of Williamsburg and exchanged.
Tranferred to Co. "G", 37th Virginia Cavalry for the duration of the war.
Returned to Franklin Co. and became a farmer in the Blackwater District and married Ava Rhoda Moore 8 October 1872. They had six children: [1]Frances Katherine; [2] Julia Estelle; [3]Jacob Henry; [4]Charles Robert; [5]Ava Etta; and [6]Mary Susan. Ava died of malaria in 1885 and he married Patty Boatright. Patsy died in the flue epidemic of 1918.
Transferred into Virginia 37th Cavalry.
