Selmon Cobb Dawson, age 85, of 112 Sanford Drive, Piedmont, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hall's Chapel Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Joe Martin, The Rev. Charles Hanson and the Rev. Granville Young officiating. Burial will be in Plum Springs Cemetery near Eastaboga with Cray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge. The body will be at the funeral home until one hour before services. Mr. Dawson died Thursday in Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Lockridge and Mrs. Virginia Kirby, both of Anniston, and Mrs. Zonie Matthews of Rockmart, Ga.; two sons, Walter Dawson of Crestview, Fla. and Willard Dawson of Saks; a sister Mrs. Lizzie Rogers of Piedmont; 15; grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mr. Dawson was a native of Cherokee County and had resided in Calhoun County for the past 38 years. He was a retired employee of Blue Mountain Industries and a deacon and member of Hall's Chapel Congregational Holiness Church. (Anniston Star, Page 5B, Friday, December 28, 1979)
