He left his home at 17 and went to California. After the war broke out, he was employed by the naval shipyard in Wilmington, CA, as a welder. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served on a tanker in the Atlantic until 1946. After being discharged from the Navy, he moved to Santa Paula, Calif., and worked at the Associate Insectary where he raised insects. He retired in 1978 and returned to Missouri. He loved the Lord and served as an adult Sunday school teacher at Berean Baptist Church in Bolivar.
William died after kidney failure. Memorial contributions were made to Citizen's Memorial Hospital Hospice.
