Sarah "Sadie" Cole Horning was born to Jonathan Cole and Sarah Kittridge Cole. Shortly after she was born in March of 1876, her Mother died, leaving Jon with four small daughters. Sarah went to live with her Grandparents as Jon was having a tough time dealing with all that was happening. In 1895 she married William Horning a German immigrant. William passed away in 1933, Sarah outlived him to the ripe old age of 88. She and William had a son named Lynn. After William's death, she married Austin Smith, the husband of her deceased sister, Ella. She is listed in Oak Grove Cemetery records as Sadie (Horning) Smith with her exact birth and death dates and birth location listed in these records.
