Betty Sue Palsgrove, 74, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, November 24, 1996 at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Hayti, Mo. the daughter of Samuel E. and Pocahontas Proctor Nethery. On Dec. 20, 1942 in Hayti, she married Jack E. Palsgrove who preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1990.
Palsgrove was a member of First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Hayti High School in 1939 and earned a bachelor's degree in music from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree in music from the University of Illinois. She taught music at Hayti Junior High School and Hayti Senior High School. She taught music at Southeast Missouri State for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988.
Palsgrove served as an organist for First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau for a number of years and was organist for the First Christian Church for more than 20 years. She was a member and sponsor of Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity.
Palsgrove and her husband founded the civic Singing group Cape Choraliers in 1951. They gave concerts throughout Missouri for 23 years and represented the state on Missouri Day at the World's Fair in Seattle, Washington.
Survivors include 2 daughters, one sister and 4 grandchildren.
