Alice M. Adams, 90, Tecumseh, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Adams taught for several years in one-room schools in the Longford and Wakefield communities after she graduated from Wakefield High School. She later worked at Fort Riley, Luce Press Clipping Bureau and the Jane Lee dress shop. She completed her teaching career at Avondale School in Topeka and later at Tecumseh North and Tecumseh South elementary schools before she retired in 1972.

She was born Aug. 9, 1910, in Longford, the daughter of Walter and Nancy Davidson Sutter. She graduated from Wakefield High School, and she earned a teaching degree at Washburn University.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She married Alfred E. Adams Sr. on Aug. 16, 1930. He preceded her in death in March 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Thompson, Manhattan, and Ernestine Adams, Tecumseh; two sons, Alfred E. Adams Jr., Topeka, and Alvin E. Adams, Manhattan; a sister, Erma Kummer, Junction City; a brother, Duane Sutter, Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Jean Adams, in 1946.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
