DORIS FAYE BURROWS

Doris Faye Burrows, 80, was welcomed by Jesus into heaven's garden on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, after a full life. Funeral services are set for 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Edgar Clements officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

She was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Coryell County, Texas, to Lewis Henry and Ada Belle Brown Healer. She grew up in west Texas in a little town called Roby. After graduating high school, she attended college in Abilene, where she earned an associates degree in business. There she met John William Burrows Sr. on a blind date and later married on Jan. 17, 1952.

Her early years of marriage were spent as a military wife. Together they had seven children, each born in a different state, and one in Germany. The family eventually moved to Arlington, better known as "The Farm." It was there that many family memories were made.

She loved the outdoors and enjoyed caring for animals. She was a great cook and a professional gardener, especially her tomato plants and she loved purple flowers. She always knew what the weather was going to be like and she was an avid fisherman. She also loved football, especially the Cowboys, and enjoyed watching it with the guys.

She was preceded in death by her twin children, Melinda and Lucinda Burrows; parents, Lewis and Ada Healer; brother, Norman Healer.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Derr and husband Will, Peggy Jenkins and husband Barry, John Burrows and wife Janine, Lewis Burrows and wife Debbie, Cheri Crandall and husband Robin, Connie Langston and husband James, Scott Burrows and wife Cathy; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Montgomery and husband; several nieces and nephews.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Guardian Home Health for the compassionate care and to her wonderful friend and caregiver Cathy Harmon.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Barnes, Heath Langston, Jeremy Burrows, Joshua Burrows, Jevin Burrows, Jason Burrows, Gerald Olsen and Gene Olsen.
