Phyllis Schmidt,81, died of natural causes at her home. Her parents were Oscar and Beulah Crippen. She was the youngest of 5 sisters. They lost their homestead during the Depression, so they relocated to Spearfish, SD, where Phyllis attended high school.

In Aug 1950 Ellen married Wilbert Schmidt, a soldier stationed at Fort Mead, SD. They moved about frequently, but transferred to Malmstrom Air Force Base, and settled in Great Falls. Ellen raised 4 children and worked many jobs; the latest being at Wong's in the Minneapolis House, in Great Falls. She was a member of the Luthern Redeemer Church and Ladies Auxiliary Benevolent Order of the Eagles.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Sherry and Priscilla; sons, Larry and Duane; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
