Visitation begins Tuesday, July 2 at 5 p.m. at Dunn's Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at St. Augustin Catholic Church where she was a lifetime parishioner, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Megan was born March 13, 1957, the beloved daughter of Michael John Manning, founder and President of the Des Moines Insurance Agency, and Marie Jeannette Nelson Manning, a journalist for KRNT-TV, the Des Moines Register and press secretary for the Republican Party of Iowa.
Megan attended St. Augustin grade school, St. Joseph's Academy, and Dowling Catholic High School (class of 1975) where she was active in vocal music, drama, and debate. After attending Indiana University from 1975-77, she graduated with honors from Iowa State University in 1979. Megan married her best friend, Mike Antenucci on August 2, 1980.
She had a love of words, and began her career as a journalism teacher at Valley High School and editor with the Iowa Development Commission. Megan attended Drake Law School, where she was Executive Editor of the Drake Law Review, and graduated Order of the Coif in 1985. Megan was proud of her family, her Irish and Norwegian heritage, her successful 26-year career as a trial lawyer with Whitfield & Eddy, her years as managing partner, her work as past President of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association, and being named a fellow of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Megan loved summers at the family cottage in Island Lake, Wisconsin, and never missed hosting the annual 4th of July celebration for extended family. It is only fitting that she would be buried on July 3, so she doesn't miss orchestrating the 4th of July celebration in heaven with her parents, grandparents and Uncle Arnie. She particularly enjoyed the Iowa State Fair, where her daughter Maggie won many awards for her culinary skills.
In addition to her loving husband Mike, son Michael, 25, and daughter Maggie, 22, she is survived by her sister, Mary Manning Bracken, many nieces and nephews, and will be missed by her law firm partners and friends. Memorial contributions may be given to the family for a memorial fund in honor of Megan to be designated at a later date.
We love you, Megan, and know you are still watching over all of us
