Henry Lee Beyer, 85, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.

Mr. Beyer was born in Tynan to Joseph and Louise Lizzie Beyer on March 13, 1926. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, and enjoyed gardening. He retired from N.L. Baroid in 1985, after 27 years with the company in Beeville and Port Lavaca and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan, where he and his wife were married on March 15, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louise Beyer of Skidmore; his wife of 43 years, Irma MEYER BEYER of Wharton in 1993; and brothers-in-law, Albert Laechelin and Herbert Stridde, both of Mathis.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte and Benjamin Algie Oaks Sr. of Crosby; three granddaughters, Valerie Appleton, Angela Welch and Lauren Wells; a sister Cora Laechelin of Mathis; a brother, Joseph Charles J.C. (June) Beyer of Pampa; a sister, Carolyn (Wilbur Bill) Ross of Arlington; sister-in-law, Melba Stridde of Skidmore; and brother-in-law, Hilbert Henry (H.H (Verna Mae) Laechelin of Beeville; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends was held prior to the funeral service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan on Monday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. Burial followed at Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Orchard Residential Living Community in Woodville or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan.
