Alice Johnson Bennett, 83, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Blairsville died Saturday following an extensive illness.
Born in Sylvania, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Curtis Johnson and Ina Elizabeth Caston Johnson. She had retired from Florida State University as an administrative assistant to the dean of the school of social work. She was a prior member of Southside Methodist Church, Tallahassee, Fla. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Max Durwood Bennett; sisters, Jessie Latham and Lelia Poole; and brothers, Murray Caston Johnson and A.O. Johnson.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Jenkins, Crestview, Fla., and Virginia "Ginger" Katherine Smith, Princeton, Texas; son, Murray Ronald "Ronnie" Cornelius Sr., Tallahassee, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. The Rev. Johnny Ray will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leon County, Fla., Animal Shelter.
