Born in what was then , Remallah, Palestine; he was the son of Abraham Chahine; he was educated at the Saint Joseph's Seminary in Jerusalem and at a prep school in Liege, Belgium. Clement was a Pittsburgh Restaurant operator for 35 years. He came to Pittsburgh in 1921 from Geneva, Switzerland where he had worked as a receptionist and interpreter for the League of Nations; he was also a part-time interpreter for the United States Immigration Bureau in Pittsburgh. Clement was fluent in six languages.
When he arrived in Pittsburgh, he was employed as a chef at the Fort Pitt Hotel; he later operated the Brothers Restaurant on Third Avenue until 1942. He has since been the owner - operator of Clem's Luncheonette on Penn Avenue.
He was survived by five children - namely :
~ Mrs. Alice Koch of Butler;
~ Mrs. Ruth Knittel of Ingram;
~ Mrs. Florence Harvey of Carnegie;
~ Oscar Chahine ;
~ Elizabeth Chahine, who are both still living at the family home located at 378 Fingal Street in Duquesne Heights.
