She was born in North Mahoning Twp., Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.

She was the daughter of James Milligan "Archie" McQuown and Amanda Black McQuown.

Mrs. Herbert Moore

Mrs. Nora McQuown Moore, 83 who had been making her home with a daughter in Grove City, died at 11 p.m. yesterday in the Butler County Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for a year.
Born June 21, 1872 at Punxsutawney, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie McQuown. She was married twice, first to Walter Heeter, and later to Herbert Moore, who preceded her in death in 1944.
A former resident of Butler County, she attended the Argentine Methodist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Roy Grubbs and Mrs. Amanda Clair, both of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Michael McKean, Slippery Rock and Mrs. Thomas Wade of Grove City; a son, Samuel A. Moore, also of Grove City, two step-daughters, Mrs. Martha Welling of Parker and Mrs. H. R. Wheeler, Philadelphia; a stepson, Hal Moore, Utica, N. Y.; three sisters, Mrs. William Sickles and Mrs. Daisy O'Dell, both of West Elizabeth, and Mrs. Fred Zimmerman, San Diego, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

MOORE--Friends of Mrs Nora McQuowan Moore, Grove City, who died Friday, March 2, 1956 will be received at the Shelley Funeral Home, Grove City, Sunday afternoon and evening. Funeral sevices will be held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday. Arrangements by Shelley Funeral Home, Grove City.

I was always told that she was born in Marchand, Indiana Co., PA. Since the family lived there in the 1870 and 1880 censuses, I believe this to be true. Also, on her daughter, Dorothy G. Moore McKean's birth certificate, Nora's birth place was listed as Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

Her birthday was June 21st. According to the 1880 and 1900 censuses, she was born in 1874. Also, on her marriage certificate, Nov. 1904, her age is listed as 30. Her obit says she was born in 1872. Her tombstone has 1875.

She actually died in the Butler County Home where she had been a resident from 5 Oct 1955 until her death.
