Robert Vetter Killed-3 Camp Deaths in Week
The third Lewis man to lose his life last week in a logging camp accident was Robert Vetter, resident of Newaukum prairie, who died Friday night at a Portland hospital as the result of injuries received Thursday night near Veronia, Ore. Vetter, aged 24, had been sent on a speeder to fight fire. A collision with a locomotive occurred and Vetter sustained fatal injuries. The body was brought to the Stricklin Mortuary at Chehalis. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 9’oclock Monday morning. Rev. Father A McGrath officiating. The body was taken to Francis for burial. Surviving relatives of Mr. Vetter are his father, Gregor Vetter, whose home is in Wisconsin, but who formerly resided locally; three brothers, Frank J. Vetter of route 3, Fred Vetter of Lindsay, Calif., Chelalis: Joseph C. Vetter of Raymond: also two sisters, Mrs. Mary Fischer of North Dakota and Mrs. Barbara Gee of California.
