Arthur Henry Eddington, taught at a Quaker training college in Lancashire before moving to Kendal to become headmaster of Stramongate School. He died of typhoid in an epidemic which swept the country in 1884 before his son was two years old.

Father of Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington (1882 - 1944) and his sister Winifred; his son was cremated at Cambridge Crematorium (Cambridges) on November 27, 1944 and his remains were interred in his mother's grave.

His daughter Winifred was cremated at Cambridge Crematorium (Cambridge) on April 2, 1954 and her remains interred in the grave of her mother, with those of her brother Sir Arthur.

There is a headstone for Arthur JOHN Eddington in the burial ground of Yealand Quaker Meeting in Yealand Conyers, Lancashire.
