Raymond G. Jasper, 84, Washington, died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington. He was born November 28, 1916, at Washington, the son of Joseph Jasper Sr. and wife Mary C., nee Filla. Mr. Jasper served his country during World War II as a sergeant in the United States Army. He received the Good Conduct Medal and four bronze stars for his participation in military campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes. On October 11, 1947, Mr. Jasper was united in marriage to Dorothy Eckelkamp at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington. Mr. Jasper was a member of St. Francis Borgia Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2661 and AARP. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret Bleckman; one brother, Joseph Jasper; and one granddaughter, Theresa Konys. Mr. Jasper is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Jasper, Washington; one daughter, Darlene Konys and husband Mike, Washington; two sons, Jerry Jasper and wife Roxann, and Harvey Jasper and wife Susan, all of Washington; four brothers, Victor Jasper and wife Olivia,Othmar Jasper and wife Marie, Marcellus Jasper and Harold Jasper and wife Esther, all of Washington; one sister, Marion Maune and husband Omar, Washington; one sister-in-law, Orpha Jasper, Washington; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for Mr. Jasper were held Tuesday, October 16, at St. Francis Borgia Church, Washington, with Father Jack Costello officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials to St. Francis Borgia Church, Pregnancy Assistance Center or Masses are preferred. The Jasper family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
