Lucy Buffin Saunders was born to George Alexander Sanders (Saunders) and Susan Emily Buffin (Susie) in 1902. She married Waverly Leon Wyatt on November 23, 1920 in Charles City, VA. They moved quite a bit following jobs before they settled down in Hopewell, Virginia. They had one son, James Lee Wyatt. Lucy had several siblings: half-sisters, Mary Virgil, Annie Elizabeth, sisters: Alice Elizabeth, Georgia Elenora, Laura Belle, Lettie Virginia, Hattie Addie, and Julia Jones Truax, who died at one year of age. Also half brother James "Jim" Edward Saunders.
