Apsey, John M. – Age 67, of Interlochen, died Saturday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born May 30, 1931 in Flint; he was the son of John William and Leala (Flickeger) Apsey. On August 17, 1984 in Traverse City, he married Bernadine E. "Bernie" (Pratt) Chapman. A retired draftsman, John was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed golf, traveling and walking along the beach hunting for Petoskey stones. Survivors include: his wife, Bernie of Interlochen; 2 stepsons, Edward Chapman of Traverse City and Curtis (Cheryl) Chapman of Cadillac; 2 stepdaughters, Cindy Peek of Belleville and Karen (Sean) Allen of Hume, Mo.; 1 brother, Charles (Toni) Apsey of Traverse City; 1 sister, Jeanne (Elwood) Hardenburg of Montrose; 5 step grandchildren; 3 nieces; 6 nephews; and his pal, Mackie. John was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the time of the memorial service which will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 20, 1999 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. Wesley J. Benner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of ones's choice.
