Albert William Alm
Funeral services for Albert William Alm, 83, will be held this Saturday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Morrisonn Simic Chapel, Calistoga. He passed away at the St. Helena Hospital.
A native of Sweden, he came to the United States in 1902 where he lived in the midwest and later to Fresno.
In 1911, he married Signe Carlson in San Francisco and moved to Calistoga in 1914. During WorId War I, he worked at Mare Island and later opened a plumbing. He bought a hardware business with a friend and open business in Calistoga in 1929. ed the Alm and Ames Plumbing and Hardware.
His wife, Signe, passed away in 1952 and later, in 1964, he remarried to Ada Hepburn.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, Calistoga; of the Calistoga Masonic Lodge a 50 year member of the Royal Older of Associated Masons, Napa; of the Napa Commandry; of Aahmes Temple, Oakland; a 60-year member of the Odd Fellows; of the California Retired Teacher Association and of the National Retired Teacher's Association.
Mr. Alm was also instrumental in the building of the Tucker Farm Center, Calistoga and was the last of the original mortgage signers.
Survivors include his wife, Ada of Calistoga; two daughters. Mrs. Clark "Doris" Davis of Salinas and Mrs. Walter "Virginia" Hoadley of Lafayette; grandfather of five and great grandfather of five; brother to Miss Mary Alm of Kungsor, Sweden and Mrs. Eva Haglund of Gavle, Sweden; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations to the charity of one's choice.
