Morris L. Acree, 93, Independence, MO passed away July 7, 2013. Services will be 10 am, Sat., July 13 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Green Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Pkwy., Kansas City, MO 64114. Morris was born March 21, 1920 in Linneus, MO. At the age of eight, he traveled in a band and was a proficient musician. He graduated from Buckner High School where he was captain of the basketball team and played football. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II where he was an MP. He was a Prudential Insurance agent for thirty years before retiring in June, 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Blue Springs. He loved working in his garden and grew vegetables and flowers for most of his life. He was active in 4-H for many years and was a huge Royals fan. Morris was preceded in death by wife Flora Acree; daughters Sharon Luvin and Vicki Fulton; two grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. He is survived by wife Juanita Acree, of the home; sons Steven Acree, Odessa, MO; Tim Acree and wife Lynn, Kansas City, MO; Jerry Acree and wife Diane, Blue Springs, MO; Keith Acree and wife LeAnn, Independence, MO; daughters Kathy Stephens; Debbie Foster and husband Leonard; son Kent Acree; daughter Angie Righi and husband Tim, all of Blue Springs, MO; twenty-one grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a large extended group of family and friends.
