Gertrude Ellen Brown, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2013. She was the loving wife of Robert Brown for 66 years.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on May 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Curran) Day.

Gertrude was a devoted wife and mother; her family was her life.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she is survived by two sons, Bob Brown, Jr. of Torrington, CT., Bill Brown of Boston, MA., a sister, Josephine Torrey of Venice, FL. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Eileen Mozley, Alice Day, Dorothy Stankevich and a brother, Frank Day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 715 Bantam Road, Bantam. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Northwest, 607 Bantam Road Unit F, Bantam, CT 06750.
