Steve was the son of Helma Deering and Vera Nell Chessor, the husband of Teresa Gulley, and the father of Phillip and Kyle Deering.

STEVE DEERING

Steve Deering, 51, Lafayette, Tenn., died March 2, 2004 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

He was a farmer, a former employee of TVA and a member of the Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church and Hillsdale Lodge #664 F&AM.

Born in Macon County, Tenn. on Aug. 28, 1952, he was a son Vera (Chessor) Deering, Lafayette, and the late Helma Deering, and the husband of Teresa (Gulley) Deering, who also survives.

Other than his wife and mother, survivors include two sons, Phillip and Kyle Deering; a sister and brother-in-law, Glennon and Jimmy Scott; and his mother-in-law, Marie Gulley — all of Lafayette; two brothers-in-law, Chuck Ketchel, Hendersonville, Tenn., and Richard Gulley and his wife, Carolyn, Fountain Run; a sister-in-law, Melissa Anderson, Celina, Tenn.; six nieces and nephews, Chris Jones (and his wife, Lori), Jordan Theusen, Wendy Anderson (and her husband, Brad), Danny and Rebecca Gulley, and Katy Anderson; and five great-nieces and nephews, John Gabriel Jones, Hannah and Ethan Anderson, Leslie Theusen and Kristen Oldham.

A sister, Beverly Ketchel, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on March 5 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Elders Ricky Wilson and Floyd Ferguson officiating. Burial was at the Drury Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Jones, Danny and Richard Gulley; Brad Anderson; and Larren and Darren Walrond. (03-11-04)
