Mrs. Lela O'Neal Santa Cruz, 86, of Biloxi died Sunday, March 20, 1994, in Biloxi. Mrs. Santa Cruz was an active member of the Nativity B. V. M. Catholic Church in Biloxi. She designed and produced Mardi Gras costumes, Formals, and Wedding gowns for 40 years. She was preceded in dead by her husband, Orin J. Santa Cruz, and her parents, Brewer O'Neal and Margaret Byrd. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Lynn) Wakefield and Mrs. Leatrice K. Gill, both of Biloxi; a son, Larry Santa Cruz of Las Vegas, and grandchildren, Mrs. Ann Terry of Houston, TX., Mrs. Lula Mount, Mrs. Marcia Kelly, Ms. Barbara Garon, and Anthony Garon, all of Gulfport; Lt. Col.(Retired) Orin 'Scooter' Gill of Pensacola, FL, Major Shawn Gill Bolender, of El Paso, TX, Mrs. Lela Gill Jordan of Dauphine Island, Al, Mrs. Cindy Sorato of Elko, NV, Larry Santa Cruz Jr., of Salt lake City, Utah, and Michael Santa Cruz of Las Vegas, and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Tuesday, March 22, 1994, at the Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home Howard Avenue Chapel, Biloxi with a Rosary at 7:30 pm.
A procession will leave at 9:50 am Wednesday, March 23, 1994, for a 10:00 am Mass at the Nativity B. V. M. Catholic Church, Biloxi. Burial will be in the Southern Memorial Park Biloxi.
