Lodonville - James L. Dame, Sr., 57, of Loudonville, beloved husband for 37 years to Sharon Smith Dame, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Albany Medical Center with his family and friends at his side.
Mr. Dame was born in Cohoes, the son of the late Ernest Dame Sr. and Blanche Dame Reamer. He was a graduate of the Keveny Academy of Cohoes and Russell Sage College with an associates degree.
He was employed by SUNY as a Student Loan manager for over 13 years. He then worked for the NYS Division of the Lottery Department in Schenectady for 24 years. He retired as the Chief of Data Porcessing in July 2001. Upon his retirement he received a Citation for distinguished public service from Governor Pataki.
He was a Loudonville resident for 31 years and previously lived in Cohoes. Mr. Dame was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville and enjoyed golfing and had a love for creating garden ponds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, James Dame Jr. and his wife Kristy of Altamont, Suzanne Ainscoe of Colonie and Lisa Gorman and her husband Stephen of Burlington, Vt; two brothers & sisters-in-law, Edward Dame and his wife Shirley of Halfmoon and David Dame and his wife Marge of Cohoes; a sister, Shirley Foss of Port Gamble, Wash.; two cherished grandchildren, Amanda Dame and Andrew Dame. He is the son-in-law of Anna Smith of Cohoes and the late Frank Smith; brother in law of June & Michael Lavigna of Jonesville; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews. Mr Dame was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Herbert Dame.
Funeral services will be Monday at a time to be announced from the Dufrense & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham and at time to be announced in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Michael Farano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
