SIOUX FALLS - Ruthelma J. Breemes, 79, Sioux Falls, died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota.
Ruth was born April 28, 1926 in Steele, North Dakota to Carl and Jenny Carlson. On August 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to Eugene D. Breemes in Philip, S. Dak. The couple lived in Rapid City until Gene's death in 1982. Ruth continued to live in Rapid City until 1993 when she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her daughter. Ruth was employed by the Rapid City School District and Douglas School District for many years, providing individual reading and math assistance to underachieving elementary students. In her retirement years she found great pleasure in spending time with her many close friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Gregroy Breemes and his wife Diane of Gilbert, AZ, Kristin Allen and her husband Raymond, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., her seven grandchildren, Josie Breemes, Amanda Breemes, Lindsey Breemes, Brian Welch, Joseph Welch, Seth Allen and Sam Allen, her brother Robert Carlson and his wife Lois, Rapid City, her sister, Dorothy Oehrle and her husband Ken, Pawcatuck, CT.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene and a brother Donald Carlson of Rapid City.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday at the Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with family members present from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd. St., Sioux Falls, S. Dak.
Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. MDT Thursday, July 14th., at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S. Dak. A memorial has been established.
