Paul J. Mathias, 84, of 730 Waterworks Road, Nekoosa, Wisc., died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

Paul was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Cootes Store, Va., to Jessie and Alma (Runion) Mathias. He married Mildred Coppes June 28, 1941, in Bowling Green.
Paul was a machinist for National Machinery in Tiffin for 38 years, then for Nekoosa Corporation in Nekoosa, Wis. for seven years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-1945. Paul truly loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Paul is survive by: his wife Mildred; children, Jerry (Phyllis) Mathias of Mt. Gilead, Kathleen (James) Barger of Findlay, Paul James (Marilyn) Mathias of Finland, Margaret (Edwin) Anderson of New Brighton, Minn., Deborah (Richard) Huntley of Bow, N.H., Nancy (Jerry) Mancl of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Gregory (Angelica) Mathias of Zimmerman, Minn. and Cynthia Cattermole of Nekoosa, Wis.; sisters, Margaret Cross of Mansfield, Jane Thaxton and Mattie Kilen both of Tiffin; 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Elliot Mancl; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers.
