Betty Caroline Fisher Medbourn was a free-lance artist with a degree in art from Christian College, Columbia, Missouri. She was later mentored by Jean Williams of Culver, Indiana under whose tutelage she branched into various fields of design and ceramics while continuing to explore innovative avenues in multimedia graphic arts. She created art for its own sake and never sought to exploit her work for gain. She lived in Morehouse and in Wappapello, Missouri where she created with oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor and sources from nature whenever her muses were in proper alignment. Her works are owned by her relatives, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She died July 2, 2013 from a massive cerebral hemorrhage. The family is devastated. She insisted on living alone in one of her houses. From what we can reconstruct, she fell and hit her head; figured she could fix things herself and get to her 1pm Monday bridge game; didn't press her First Alert button; didn't call 911; didn't make her check-in call to her daughter; got some bandaids and an ice bag; lay down on her bed and never woke up. She didn't answer her phone; her bridge club went to the house and couldn't get in; the police broke down the door; she was life-flighted to Cape Girardeau but it was too late.

Betty Caroline Fisher Medbourn was the last of her generation of the Powell-Fisher-Himmelberger line of Logansport, Indiana and Morehouse, Missouri. She was the matriarch of our family who loved us and whom we will miss terribly. Forever.

Surely she is simply somewhere "else" - playing a hand of bridge and carrying on as before, in some Schroedingers's Cat universe.
