Little Evelyn was described by her family as "a pure, innocent, beautiful girl, so full of life" whose smile could "could light up a room".

Her former preschool teacher, Dalia Weber, said of her,

"She could talk to you. She could be a leader. She would lead the kids the right way."

Evelyn went missing on July 1, 2005 from her mother's Iowan apartment. After an agonizingly thorough search, her body was found in the Cedar River on July 6. Her death was ruled a homicide shortly after by local authorities.

"She was so precious and bright. I don’t know how anyone could be so cruel," Noel Miller, her mother, said.

"It seems like I can still see Evelyn running and jumping in the pool and yelling 'Cannonball.' The things she loved to do was play with her friends, she enjoyed dressing up, swimming, going to the park, walking and loved being with her family and playing with her little brothers."

She will always be remembered as a laughing, loving child who will most certainly be forever missed.
