Royce F. "Coop" Cooper, 77, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Doris L. (Ickes) Cooper. Funeral Thursday, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York, Rev. Lisa A. Hair of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Cooper was born December 3, 1927, in York. He was the son of the late Gerald H. and Helen M. (Jones) Cooper. He was employed as a shipping clerk at Dentsply for 35 years, until his retirement in 1993. A United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, West York V.F.W. Post 8951, the Shiloh American Legion Post 791, and Viking Athletic Association. Mr. Cooper is survived by two sons, Michael A. Cooper and Mark A. Cooper; two daughters, Michele A. Cooper and Marsha A. McDonald, all of York; five grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; one sister, Norma Koch of York; and nephews. [York Daily Record]
