Born November 20, 1916, in Greene County, he was the son of Garfield A. Hartzell and Nellie Throckmorton Hartzell.
Mr. Hartzell was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Hartzell; one son, Tom Hartzell of Elkins, W. Va.; two daughters, Deanna Channell of The Plains, Ohio, and Connie Becker of Columbus, Ohio; two stepsons, Mark Love of West Plains, Mo., and Kim Love of Fernandina Beach, Fla., one stepdaughter, Willa Jean Wooddell of Belpre, Ohio; one sister, Maggie Bell Conklin of Waynesburg; and one niece, BeLinda Burns of Wind Ridge. Also surviving are four grandchildren; one great-grandson; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
One brother, John Albert, is deceased.
