Gerald J. "Candy Man" Casey, 79, of Bismarck died at 6 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 18, 2004) at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Mr. Casey was born April 28, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio, a son of William and Victoria Nadroskie Casey. He married Marjorie Bernardi on July 3, 1958 in Danville. She died April 5, 2001.

Survivors include four sons, Frank Casey of Bismarck, Pat Casey of Brazil, Indiana, Tony Casey of St. Anne, Idaho, and David Casey of Carmel, Indiana; a daughter, Myra Rennick of Covington, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Sherry Erwin of Oakwood; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Mr. Casey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He later was a salesman with Warner Candy Co. for more than 35 years.

He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a sports fan and enjoyed the Cubs and the Bears.
