Elmer was the son of James Woody and Alice Kindred. He married Alice Clark on April 5, 1900. They were the parents of Juanita, Cecil, and Evalyn.

Nov 1 1956 - Carroll Daily Times - Lake City — Funeral services for Elmer D. Woody, 75, were held October 25 at Woodlawn Christian church in Lake City. The Rev. Howard D. Prather officiated, assisted by the Rev. C.O. Stuekenbruck. Mrs. Darryl Johnson sang, accompanied by Mrs. A.M. Short. Pallbearers were Boyd Hucka, Darwin Hucka, Clifford Woody, Delbert Woody, James Hall, and Wilbur Pankey. Burial, in charge of the Squires Funeral Home, was in Lake City cemetery.

Mr. Woody, son of James and Alice Woody, was born in Jasper county, Iowa, June 14, 1881. When he was three years old, he came with his parents to Calhoun county. They settled near Lake City. On April 5, 1900, he was married to Alice Edna Clark. They were the parents of three children: Juanita, Cecil, and Evalyn.

Mr. and Mrs. Woody farmed near Lake City until about 10 years ago, when they moved to Des Moines. They returned to Lake City in April, 1954.

Mrs. Woody died March 25, 1956, and Mr. Woody died at McCrary Rost Hospital in Lake City Monday October 22, 1956.

In addition to his wife, his parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Mrs. Wesley Hall (Junita), De» Moines; Cecil Woody, Los Angeles, California; and Mrs. Richard Hucka (Evalyn), Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Blanchfield and Mrs. James Pankey both of Lake City; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
