Dr. W. Gerald Allanach, MD, FRCSC 1916 - 2005 Dr. W. Gerald Allanach, MD, FRCSC passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the age of 89. Born in Moncton on September 7, 1916, he was the son of the late W. Duncan and the late Jennie (Rippey) Allanach. Gerald received his B. Sc. from Mount Allison University in 1938 and graduated from the University of Toronto School of Medicine in 1943. He served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp. from 1943 - 1946. He was general practitioner until 1950 in Moncton, when he took his specialization in Urology, first in Toronto and then at the Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. He practiced Urology in Moncton until his retirement in 1981. He was married to Cora Ruth Stephen in 1943 and lost his best friend when she passed away in January of 2003. His identical twin brother, Dr. J. Ralph Allanach, predeceased him. He is survived by a son, Lloyd of Moncton; a daughter, Stephanie Crew and her partner David Chazalon of Moncton; grandson, Stephen Roberts of Ontario; and granddaughter, Melinda Vinqvist-Tymchuk (Bruce Tymchuk) of Nova Scotia; great grandchildren, Peter and Samantha Vinqvist. His cousin and friend, Margaret Roberts of Riverview, a niece Karen of California, and nephew Michael of Saint-John also survive him. In his younger years he was a member of M.C.A., the Albert County Fishing Club and a long time member of the Moncton Gyro Club and after it disbanded, the Moncton Friendship Club. He was a member of St. John's United Church. Gerald enjoyed his summers at his cottage in Cape Brule for years and spent many winters going to Florida. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family, where Gerald was a Physician for many years.
