EARL FRANKLIN PHILLIPS DEAD

Earl Franklin Phillips died of diabetes this morning at 7:30 o'clock at his home, 14 Market, after a short illness. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Earl Franklin Phillips was born June 30, 1902 in Emporia. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Phillips; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Harvey, all of Emporia, and a brother, Chester U. Phillips, of Ludlow, Calif.

Earl Franklin Phillips died of diabetes Thursday morning at 7:30 o'clock at his home, 14 Market, after a short illness.

Earl Franklin Phillips was born June 30, 1902 in Emporia. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Phillips; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Harvey, all of Emporia, and a brother, Chester U. Phillips, of Ludlow, Calif."

"Funeral of Earl Phillips - Funeral services for Earl Phillips, who died Thursday, were held Sunday afternoon at the home, 14 Market. Rev. R. E. Jackson, pastor of the Friends church, conducted the services. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery. The Emporia band, of which Mr. Phillips had been a member, played a funeral march at the services, and Miss Nell Benson and Opal Cramer sang, accompanied by Mrs. Wanda Bailey. Pallbearers were members of the band: Ralph Rose, Dan Lewis, Cyrus Burnap, Carl Reeble, Joe O'Connor and Frank Adam.

Earl Franklin Phillips was born June 30, 1902 in Emporia. He spent his childhood in Burlington, but returned to Emporia and graduated from the Emporia high school in 1920. He was a member of the Emporia band for several years and also gave lessons in the playing of band instruments. He worked for two years at the Citizens National Bank. Last winter he went to Little Rock, Ark., where he worked in a bank. He was visiting with his parents in Emporia, when he became sick with diabetes.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Phillips; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Harvey, all of Emporia; and a brother, Chester Phillips, of Ludlow, Calif.
