Joe was born March 23, 1933, in Fort Worth. He grew up in Haltom City and graduated from Birdville High School in 1951. Joe played football for Ranger Junior College, McMurry College and Stephen F. Austin State University and married his college sweetheart, Kathleen Ann Bratton. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, earned a master's degree in education at North Texas State University and returned to his hometown in 1957 as a coach and educator. Joe was a teacher, coach and principal in the Birdville ISD and retired after 36 years.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Joe loved to fish, travel and spend time with his family and countless number of friends. He loved life, and he lived it with a passion. He loved the lake, the beach and road trips across the country to festivals and cook-offs with his friends. He never met a stranger. Joe Angell will be remembered for his big smile, generous heart, passion for life and his fun-loving spirit.
Survivors: Wife, Kathleen Angell; daughters, Allison Vinson of Keller and Jeri Elliott and husband, Bobby, of Rhome; and grandchildren, Shannon Hall, Austin Hall and Baylee Vinson.
