After her father died in Alabama, she and her mother and sister Hattie moved to Illinois to live with her brother, Charles. The family later moved to St. Joseph, MO where Charles was a a prominent real estate agent and banker.
She married Harold Lancelot Coulter and moved to Arkansas. The couple had a child, Harold Vernon Coulter, in 1905. Harold Vernon married Susan Elizabeth Fawce.
She and her son Vernon had left Lonoke, Arkansas and were en route to a niece's wedding in Chicago when they were in an accident near Cape Girardeau. They were taken to a hospital in Cape Girardeau where Lillie died on Monday, October 4, 1937.
Vernon suffered a broken jaw, arm, and head injuries.
She was buried in Little Rock, Arkansas.
