— Services for Mackenzie Lynn Dallis, age 3, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, at Reed-Culver Chapel in Tahlequah. Chaplin Kevin Webster and Pastor Brandon O'Field will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wes Dallis, Neal Dillard, Dillon Towie and Lee Towie. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Cobb, Joshua Martin, John Girdner, Robbie Dallis and Larry Caviness Jr.
Every once in a while, heaven sends to earth a gift so rare, so beautiful and so pure that we are only granted their presence a short while. On July 4, 2010, the day our nation celebrated its independence, our family celebrated the arrival of our own little heaven-sent angel. Mackenzie Lynn Dallis was born at 11:07 p.m., much to the delight of family, friends and neighbors alike. Though she made her debut a little earlier than expected - we soon learned that was simply Kenzie's way - it was not enough to quietly arrive – she had to make a grand entrance.
Our blue-eyed baby began her life dedicated back to the Lord who sent her to us, and she was a devoted and faithful member of Revival Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, studying under the leadership of Sister Shirley Potts and singing loudly and proudly in the booster band. Mackenzie's devotion to Jesus didn't stop in the church house as she was a very present help to her mama Leslie at the many singings, concerts and revivals she attended and took part in.
Mackenzie was loved by anyone who ever met her, loved so dearly that her earliest years were spent with quality one on one time with the never ending line of people who were willing and wanting to keep her, namely Grandma Vickie, Papa Larry Caviness , Granny Cobb, Grandma Debbie, Papa Larry Skaggs and Pop John.
When the time came to begin her formal education, Mackenzie was enrolled at the Cherokee Nation Early Head Start Academy, where she quickly made friends with all she met and won the hearts of her teachers with that giant smile, azure blue eyes and little blond curls. Mackenzie was a shining light, a beacon of joy, a breath of pure mountain air in a parched and dark old world.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially sister Amanda, and cousins Gavin, Emma, Bella, Rosalie, Hailey, Serenity, Austin, Destiny and Izzy, sleeping overnight at the grandparents, swimming and thoroughly enjoying ever manner of delicious food offered to her – and if not offered to her specifically, she was always willing to "share it fif you." Her other hobbies included fishing, a sport at which she was becoming remarkably adept, horseback riding, running around town and engaging in that nearly forgotten tradition of "visiting."
Kenzie was called back to heaven on Monday, July 8, 2013, just after her third birthday. Though our hearts are broken, and life without her is unimaginable, Kenzie would want everyone to know, our family wants everyone to know, that she is at home with Jesus, riding her very own pony and kissing every fish she catches in the beautiful ponds of heaven.
We love you, Mackenzie Lynn Dallis, always and forever. Our own little piece of heaven on earth if only for a short while – we will all be together again in heaven.
