MR. SHEPHERD CALLED EAST--H.L. Shepherd, of the firm of Shepherd & Ballard, a mining brokers in this city, received a telegram last night from Lynnhaven, Va., notifying him of the death of his father. Mr. Shepherd left early on the train this morning for his old home. Deceased, J.C. Shepherd, was an officer in the civil war, serving under General Robert E. Lee.
