Edward M. Conroy, 66, resident of Duquesne 50 years and retired employe of the Duquesne Works, U.S. Steel Corp., died suddenly last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harry Helsel, 506 Taft Ave., West Mifflin.
Mr. Conroy was born June 16, 1897, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Michael and Mary A. Conroy. He was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholc Church, Duquesne, was a World War I veteran and a past commaner [sic] of Raymond Burns Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary Conroy; sons, Edward M. Jr. of Bucksport, Me., and Sgt. Joseph F. Conroy with the U.S. Army in Germany; daughter, Mrs. Helsel, with whom he resided, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lloyd of McKeesport; a brother, L. Thomas Conroy of Liberty, and 15 grandchildren.
Friends will be received beginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Shaughnessy's Duquesne. Funeral arrangement will be announced later. (McKeesport Daily News, 9 April 1964
